Requisite Documents for Long Stay

Requirements for Residence Permit for Students

  • 2 sets duly completed application forms (Form # 105031).
  • 2 sets of Appendix D.
  • 3 passport size colour photographs, full face, white background, no more than 3 months old.
    Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  • Valid passport + 2 photocopies of biodata, endorsements and extensions pages.  Passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay.
  • Original and 2 photocopies of birth/marriage certificates. If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil, official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  • Original educational certificates/degrees, transcripts and diplomas with 2 sets of photocopies.
  • Bank statements (originals + 2 sets photocopies). Applicant is requested to show proof of financial support for the entire planned study period. You are required to show a minimum of SEK 7300 per month for 10 months in a year (Money has to be in student’s name). Documents certifying ones own or sponsor’s bank assets ( in the form of bank certificate & statement of accounts for the last 6 months) OR a letter of guarantee from one’s sponsor OR documents certifying that one has received either a scholarship or student benefit from one’s country of origin must be provided.
  • A certificate of leave of absence/educational leave (where relevant) - original + photocopy.
  • Admission letter from University/College in Sweden (original + photocopy). Study should be full time.
  • Accommodation should be arranged for in Sweden
  • Medical Insurance for students - Students applying for residence permit for less than one year from 01st of March 2007 will need a medical insurance covering costs for urgent and other kinds of health care, hospitalization and costs for trips back home for medical reasons. This requirement will be applicable on students applying for residence permit after the date in question. It will also be applicable on applicants who have applied before that date but who has not received a decision before the date in question. The latter category might be asked to submit an insurance later on.

The application is forwarded to the Migration Board in Sweden for decision.
The application must be submitted at least 6 - 8 weeks before the estimated date of arrival in Sweden
Permit handling fees: Adult: For visits, working or studying Rs. 17,000

 

Requirements for Co-Applicants To Students/Doctoral Students

  • 2 sets duly completed application forms (Form # 135011)
  • 2 set of Appendix D.
  • 3 passport size colour photographs, full face, white background, no more than 3 months old. Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  • Valid passport + 2 photocopies of bio data, endorsements and extensions pages.  Passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay.
  • Original and 2 photocopies of birth/marriage/divorce/or death certificates. If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil, official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  • For children a certificate from school granting leve of absence (original + photocopy).
  • For spouse (if employed) letter from employer granting leave of absence.
  • Proof that spouse is a student in Sweden.
  • One must be able to show adequate means of support. The current required subsistence amount is SEK 3500 per month for spouse/domestic partner and SEK 2100 per month for each minor child.
  • Accommodation should be arranged for in Sweden.

The application is forwarded to the Migration Board in Sweden for decision. The application must be submitted at least 8 weeks prior to departure to Sweden.

Permit handling fees:
Adult: For visits, working or studying        Rs. 17,000
Child :                                                   Rs. 8,500

Requirements for application for work permit

  • 2 sets of application forms (Form # 103031) duly completed and signed.
  • 2 sets of Appendix D.
  • 3 recent passport size colour photographs, full face, with white background(no more than 3 months old). Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  • Valid passport along with 2 photocopies of relevant pages in passport (bio data, endorsements and extension pages).  Passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay. .
  • Original and 2 photocopies of birth/marriage certificates. If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil, official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  • Written offer of employment (Form AMS PF 1704) which your employer in Sweden can obtain via the National Labour Market Board’s web site ams.se. After approval from the Country Labour Board your employer must send the form to you so that you can enclose it with your application.
  • You must be paid a minimum of SEK 13,000 per month before tax.
  • Accommodation must be arranged in Sweden.
  • You must be fully prepared to leave Sweden when your term of employment is over.

The application is forwarded to the Migration Board in Sweden for decision. The application must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the estimated date of arrival in Sweden


Permit handling fees: Adult: Work Permit Rs. 17,000

Requirements For A Residence Permit - Adult

  • Applicant must submit visa application personally.
  • 2 application forms and 2 Appendix D + 2 sets of annexures.
  • 2 sets of RP,AP,TD – (form – 115021)
  • 3 recent passport size photographs in colour, full face, white background(no more than 3 months old). Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  • The Passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay.
  • Parents joining children must produce 2 copies of birth certificate (original and translation in English) of sponsoring child in Sweden.

Please enclose the following documents:

  1. Valid passport and previous passport/s if any plus photocopies of the bio-data page, extension/alteration pages in the passport(Passport must be valid for at least 2 years beyond the intended stay).
  2. Birth and marriage/death certificates (originals + 2 photocopies). If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  3. Original Invitation letter from reference person + photocopy
  4. 2 copies of reference person’s passport.
  5. 2 copies from the Swedish Population register showing that the marriage has been registered.
  6. Wedding photos and any other documents proving authenticity of the marriage.

Permit handling fees:
Adult : For family ties to a person living in Sweden Rs. 8,500
Child :                                                                Rs. 4250 

Requirements For A Residence Permit - Children Under 18

  • 2 application form (form – 113021) and 2 Appendix D + 2 sets of annexures.
  • 3 recent passport size photographs in colour, full face, white background (no more than 3 months old). Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  • Valid passport and previous passport/s if any plus photocopies of the bio-data page, extension/alteration pages in the passport. (Passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay) .
  • Birth certificate (originals + 2 photocopies). If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  • Original Invitation letter from reference person + photocopy.
  • 2 copies of reference person’s passport.
  • 2 copies from the Swedish Population register showing that the marriage has been registered. The accompany parent’s marriage certificate, divorce certificate or death certificate must be attached.
  • Parent has to sign the application and the signature must be authorized by a legal officer (Lawyer).

Adult : For family ties to a person living in Sweden Rs. 8,500
Child :                                                                Rs. 4250

Requirements for a Work Permit(AU PAIR)

  • Applicant must be between 18 and 30 years of age.
  • Applicant must submit visa application personally.
  • 2 application forms (form – 131011) and 2 Appendix D + 2 sets of annexures.
  • 3 recent passport size photographs in colour, full face, light background. Do not staple the photos to the application form.(not more than 3 months old).
  • The passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay.

    Please enclose the following documents:
  1. Valid passport and previous passport/s if any.
  2. 2 photocopies of the bio-data page, extension/alteration pages in the passport.
  3. Original + 2 photocopies of Birth and Marriage certificates. If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil, official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  4. Written offer from the host family in Sweden stating the following: (Original + photocopy)
    • Maximum of 25 hours of household work per week
    • Free board and lodging
    • Salary of at least SEK 3,500 per month before tax
  5. Certificate of admission to a course of Swedish language studies. (Original + photocopy)

Permit handling fees: Rs. 17,000

Requirements for a Visiting Researcher

  • Applicant must submit visa application personally.
  • 2 application forms (form – 127011 and 2 Appendix D.
  • 3 recent passport size photographs in colour, full face, light background. Do not staple the photos to the application form.(not more than 3 months old).
  • The passport must be valid 2 years beyond the intended stay.

    Please enclose the following documents:
  1. Valid passport and previous passport/s if any.
  2. 2 photocopies of the bio-data page, extension / alteration pages in the passport.
  3. Original + 2 photocopies of Birth and Marriage certificates. If documents are in Sinhala or Tamil, official translations in English are required + 2 photocopies of the translations.
  4. 2 copies of Hosting Agreement (form 231011) signed by applicant and the research organization in Sweden.

Permit handling fees: Rs. 17,000
